Escoda Memento Fund

It is a voluntary fund reserved for making possible the participation of girl and adult delegates of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in international projects/events. These include exchange programs, training, encampments, regional and world conferences to promote international friendship and understanding and foster peace and harmony among sister Guides and Girl Scouts around the world.

As a Member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), GSP has the privilege of participating in events initiated by Member-Association, now totaling 144.

To make international opportunities to its members available , the GSP Executive Committee created the Josefa Llanes Escoda Memento Fund Committee in 1948 with Mrs. Zenaida Quezon Buencamino, daughter of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon, as its Chairperson. The purpose of the Committee was to raise funds for delegates to international events.

In 1965, National Executive Director Mariquita S. Castelo (deceased), was appointed “steward” of the Fund. She served up to 1991. Mrs. Asuncion L. Flores, Mrs. Teresita Bermudez Choa, and Dr. Ligaya P. Jorge succeeded Miss Castelo in 1991-1994, 1994-1997 and 1997-2000, respectively.

At present, the Chairperson of the Committee is Mrs. Fe Soriano Llanes, Central Board Member.
